Recognizing the need for hands-on application of the academic instruction received in the classroom, ALCC requires each student to be committed to a specific area of Christian Service. These are practical, hands-on opportunities, which employ the student’s spiritual gifts and develop potential talents in ministry. We believe this to be an incredible opportunity that many colleges do not or cannot offer---an opportunity of a lifetime! The following list reflects areas of Christian service that have been or may be made available:

Children and Youth Ministry
Students whose interest or calling is with children and/or youth learn the use of music, multimedia, interactive games and various teaching methods in child and youth evangelism and discipleship training. Weekly responsibilities in Sunday School, coupled with various ministry opportunities throughout the area, provide students with ample ministry growth experiences that develop both their skill with and their vision for young people.

Christian Education
Students learn techniques of Christian education by assisting the staff and faculty of a Christian School (K-12). As they design and prepare creative bulletin boards, direct dramas and musicals, assist the coaches and even student teach, each student has the opportunity to explore his or her gifts in the educational arena.

Drama
Through the ministry of God’s Army, students utilize mime, drama, interactive counseling and leadership training to minister to youth in “Boot Camp” weekends throughout the South Central United States. This is great ministry training for anyone interested in working with young people.

Helps
For those students who are gifted in a wide variety of talents, who also desire to develop a servant’s heart, the Helps Ministry Christian Service provides opportunities for working with all the other ministries at the college.

Ministerial
Working closely with a pastor, an administrator, or staff personnel, it provides excellent training ground for students desiring to enter the full-time ministry. By assuming various responsibilities for the spiritual life on campus, each student in this Christian Service receives the opportunity to develop his or her personal ministry gifts, speaking ability, counseling technique, leadership skills and personal management.

Music Ministry
Music Ministry ALCC’s music group provides an outlet of ministry for students with vocal and musical talent. Students will lead praise and worship in weekly church and college chapel services, and will also learn how to balance the pursuit of excellence in performance with anointing in ministry.

Video and Sound
In the twenty-first century, the needs of the church continue to change and expand. Recognizing this need, ALCC provides pastors and leaders with the most effective and cutting edge ways of communicating the gospel. Students interested in non-linear video editing, desktop publishing, sound set-up and operation, worship software and PowerPoint will find this a great outlet for their giftings.
